May 17, 2013Combating Lawfare: A Discussion with Nitsana Darshan-Leitner
February 7, 2013Hello Everyone,
I am pleased to be able to provide the details of the Bora Laskin Law Society’s upcoming event on Monday, February 11, 2013 with Ms. Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, Israeli attorney and founder of the Israel based NGO Shurat HaDin (http://www.israellawcenter.org/). As indicated earlier, this will be a unique opportunity to hear a fascinating speaker discuss how the law can be deployed to fight terrorism. Ms. Nitsana Darshan-Leitner is being brought in from Israel by the Embassy to speak to us, so this is a special talk that you will not want to miss. Anyone who has heard her speak before will attest that she is a speaker who is not to be missed!
The event will take place as scheduled on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 7PM at the Soloway JCC at 21 Nadoly Sachs Private. The event will be followed by light refreshments, generously provided by the Vered Israel Cultural and Educational Program. The cost of this event is free, but we would be grateful for a $5 donation in support of the Bora Laskin Law Society.
To RSVP, please reply to this message, and feel free to share with anyone else who may be interested. This is an event that will be geared towards lawyers, but as always everyone is welcome.
Best,

Thank You for Attending
January 18, 2012Friends,
We’d like to thank those of you who came out for the lunch and learn on internet privacy and security law with Prof. Tal Zarsky of the University of Haifa and Prof. Michael Geist of the University of Ottawa.
To the over thirty of you who attended, thank you for coming and we hope you enjoyed yourself. The Bora Laskin Law Society looks forward to being able to offer more such lunch and learn events, and to welcoming other great professors from the University Haifa in the future.
To those of you who were not able to attend, you missed two very engaging, interesting speakers, some thoughtful questions from those in attendance and of course, a tasty kosher lunch.
We would also like to once more thank Norton Rose who graciously made their offices available to us, and helped make this event possible
every step of the way.
Anyone interested in learning more about the University of Haifa, in actually visiting the university or participating in any University of Haifa courses should feel encouraged to contact Michael Meyer at Canadian friends of the University of Haifa.
Finally, anyone who would like to receive materials related to the topics of today’s presentation can ask Cory, who will be happy to share it with you.
